Free concert to celebrate new piano will feature performances from acclaimed Tampa Bay pianists
New Tampa Performing Arts Center (NTPAC) will soon have a brand-new concert grand piano. The center selected a Steinway Model D from Steinway & Sons, makers of world-class pianos known for their high-quality craftsmanship and sound. The piano will allow NTPAC to host a wide range of musical performances for patrons and residents of New Tampa, North Hillsborough County, and the greater Tampa Bay area.
In partnership with Steinway Tampa Bay, NTPAC is hosting The Concert Grand on Friday, April 5, to celebrate the acquisition and give patrons the opportunity to hear the new concert grand piano. The concert will feature performances from acclaimed Tampa Bay pianists in both jazz and classical disciplines. Reception and hors d'oeuvres begin at 7 p.m., followed by the concert at 8 p.m. The artists will be available for a meet-and-greet after the concert.
Artists include:
Ghadeer Abaido, a Palestinian-Jordanian pianist with extensive experience in the music world, performing classical music as a soloist to collaborating with chamber music groups and orchestras in the Middle East, Europe and the U.S. She's currently an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida (USF).
Pablo Arencibia, an award-winning pianist who has performed with internationally acclaimed orchestras, including the Caracas Municipal Orchestra and Television Symphony Orchestra. Arencibia has more than 20 years of experience as an educator and currently teaches at USF and at the University of Tampa (UT).
Svetozar Ivanov, a Steinway Artist who has made numerous appearances as a recitalist and orchestra soloist worldwide. He currently serves on the faculty of USF, as well as resident artist at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Vermont, the Brancaleoni Music Festival in Italy, and others.
Simon Lasky, a pianist and composer known for his expansive and melodic jazz compositions and arrangements. He is an adjunct faculty music professor at USF and Hillsborough Community College.
Jane West, a pianist and music scholar. An avid performer of 19th century repertoire, her recitals have been heard in the U.S., Poland, and Austria.
Grigorios Zamparas, a pianist who has received critical acclaim for his versatile performing career as a recitalist, orchestra soloist, and chamber musician across the world. He is a professor of music and chair of the music department at UT.
The concert is free to attend with limited capacity. Guests must register for a ticket in advance at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/tickets.
