USA Wheelchair Football League
The Hillsborough County Buccaneers Wheelchair Football Team is one of eleven national teams that compete in the USA Wheelchair Football League (USAWFL). They will compete in several competitions throughout the season around the country, including in Tampa.
The league is the first of its kind for adults with physical disabilities looking to play America's favorite sport. The Tampa Bay Wheelchair Buccaneers are part of the Adaptive Sports division of Parks & Recreation.
Player requirements
- Must be at least 18 years or older as of Aug. 1, 2023
- Must have a permanent physical disability which consistently reduces the function of lower limbs
- Must have an elite performance sport wheelchair
- Must be able to compete in all USA Wheelchair Football League competitions
- Must participate in at least one practice a week between May 13 - November 1
