Performs professional level work developing, organizing, administering, and evaluating assigned programs and functions, providing guidance and technical expertise to assigned program staff, other departments, the community, and program participants. Incumbent may coordinate one or more specialized programs.
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a degree in environmental studies, environmental science, public administration, business administration, sustainability, or a related field; and One year of experience directly related to solid waste management, recycling, environmental programs, public administration, or urban planning.
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university graduate program in environmental studies, environmental science, public administration, business administration, sustainability, or a related field may be substituted for the minimum one year of experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management Division is seeking a Program Coordinator (Recycling & Waste Reduction Specialist) to provide public education and outreach on solid waste programs and initiatives including curbside recycling, commercial recycling, litter prevention, proper household hazardous waste disposal, and waste reduction principles. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a passion for environmental stewardship who desires to make a positive impact by engaging with the community to promote environmentally responsible behavior. Candidates should have a working knowledge of environmental studies and state legislation regarding solid waste management. The ideal candidate will be outgoing and have strong communication skills and must be comfortable providing public presentations to diverse audiences including civic associations, businesses, school groups, etc. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.
Salary: $38,937.60 - $62,691.20
