Learn the Life-Saving Skill of Hands-Only CPR
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, in partnership with the American Heart Association, will host free, life-saving hands-only CPR classes in July at various library locations. Participants will receive basic hands-on training that will empower them to act when help is needed.
According to the American Heart Association, cardiac arrest is the leading cause of in the US, with survival rates of less than 12 percent. When a person suffers a cardiac arrest, survival depends on getting immediate CPR.
Hands-only CPR classes are available at the following Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries:
- Tuesday, July 11 at 6 p.m. at the Seffner-Mango Branch Public Library, 410 N. Kingsway Road in Seffner
- Tuesday, July 18 at 10 a.m. at the James J. Lunsford Law Library, 701 E. Twiggs St. in Tampa
- Monday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Seminole Heights Branch Library, 4711 Central Ave. in Tampa
- Friday, July 21 at 3 p.m. at the Ruskin Branch Library, 26 S.E. Dickman Drive in Ruskin
Reservations are required, and attendance at each class will be limited to 14 participants. Those interested in attending may register by calling (813) 272-5818 or click on the events and class tab at HCPLC.org.
This hands-only CPR class is designed to teach the basics of bystander CPR and does not include a certification. To get your CPR certification, please contact the American Heart Association at CPR.Heart.org.
