800 Million Reasons to Apply for Road-Related Contracts

A free interactive event for road construction contractors, subcontractors, and highway ancillary services providers

Hillsborough County has a lot of road work to do, and it wants small businesses and minority- and women-owned businesses to help get the job done. Hillsborough County's "Road to Success'' event on Friday, June 9, is aimed at small businesses and businesses owned by minorities and women who want to apply for road construction and maintenance contracts or other road-related work like landscaping or installing traffic signals.

Those attending the free event can:

  • Gain information about opportunities to bid for government transportation projects
  • Network with businesses, contractors and subcontractors
  • Speak with representatives from public agencies, including Hillsborough County, the Tampa-Hillsborough County Expressway Authority, and the Aviation Authority
  • Learn about government agency requirements that businesses must meet to bid on contracts

Hillsborough County plans to spend $800 million on road projects in the next decade.

Road to Success is presented by the County's Economic Development department, under the Disadvantaged Minority/Disadvantaged Women Business Enterprise and Small Business Encouragement program. To register or for more information, call (813) 307-8309 or visit the Vendor Compliance System and click on "View Outreach Opportunities.''

The event is from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 9 at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library, 1505 N. Nebraska Ave. in Tampa.
