Hillsborough County Hosts 2017 Hurricane Expo

Free weather radios and disaster preparedness starter kits given to attendees

Residents and families determined to prepare for, plan for, and stay informed about the 2017 hurricane season attended Hillsborough County's Hurricane Expo on Saturday, June 3, at WestShore Plaza mall.

This year's expo brought together local partners and featured activities for adults and children, including educational displays, disaster preparedness booths, and a severe weather panel with local meteorology experts. Expo attendees found their evacuation zones, picked up preparedness materials, signed up for HCFL Alert, and entered raffles to win prizes. Disaster response experts from Hillsborough County, the City of Temple Terrace, the American Red Cross, and the National Weather Service answered questions and provided information on how to protect families and homes from hurricanes and other disasters.

Admission to the expo was free.

The 2017 Hillsborough County Hurricane Expo was a partnership of Hillsborough County, the American Red Cross, MOSI, the National Weather Service, and WestShore Plaza. For more information, visit
