Public Information Meeting River Oaks Diversion

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Dec. 4, 2017) - Residents in the Town 'N Country, Westchase, and Citrus Park areas can attend a public information meeting to learn more about the River Oaks Diversion Project, which involves installing new wastewater and reclaimed water pipelines along Sheldon Road and West Linebaugh Avenue.

Hosted by Hillsborough County Public Utilities, the open house meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13 in the cafeteria at Woodbridge Elementary School, 8301 Woodbridge Blvd., Tampa. After a brief video presentation, residents can view information boards and speak one-on-one with members of the project team about the project schedule, what to expect during construction, maintenance of traffic, and plant demolition.

To improve wastewater service and save money, Hillsborough County is retiring the aging and costly River Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant, and consolidating treatment at the expanding Northwest Regional Water Reclamation Facility. Once operations are smoothly transferred to the Northwest facility, the wastewater treatment facilities will be removed from the River Oaks site. A storage basin may remain for emergency use during heavy rains to prevent overflows and protect against discharge into Tampa Bay. Construction on the River Oaks project is scheduled to begin in January 2018, and run through 2019. The River Oaks plant will be removed in late 2020 or early 2021.

Information presented at this meeting will also be available online at HCFLgov.net/WWC. Questions about the meeting may be directed to Citizen Engagement at (813) 272-5275. Para información, llame al (813) 272-5275. For hearing and speech impaired assistance, call 711.
